October Julep box and mini review!

Saturday, September 29, 2012

It seems like months since I've gotten a box. The last box I received ( June or July) I didn't show you guys because I was just *meh* about the whole program at the time. The girls and I over at tPF are kind of miffed at them. All that drama, and the massive amounts of colors that I already have, has made me not want a box for a while now.

What's inside:
  Julep cream polish in Eloise
  Julep crackle polish in Sabrina
  Julep Quick Dry Polish Drops
Candy Corn! (I have been craving this lately)
  Julep glitter pots

This round I ordered two add-ons which are on their way to me as I speak. Those are Caroline, and Boris and Nicole - pictured below. I will post about them, and swatches when they arrive.

I am not sure what I am going to do with the glitter. In all honesty it's probably going to be chucked in a drawer. I can't think of a reason I would need glitter in the near future, but I'm sure someone who is into going all out for Halloween would be glad to have this handy.

The quick dry drops smell like lavender. I was really surprised at that. I actually couldn't pinpoint what color it was, then I looked at the ingredients and lavender was listed. I tried it on a swatch with Eloise and Sabrina and it left a weird ripple. I'm going to have to try it on my actual nails to see if that is permanent.

Sabrina crackles really well. I had to put on two coats because I misjudged the size of the nail (I usually do that), and above is the finished crackle. For me it's hit or miss with these things. Sometimes you can control it, other times you need a bit of luck. This time I think the crackle is formulated really well. Well done Julep! Eloise is beautiful! I do not have a blue this color, and it's actually darker in real life than it is in the picture.

Become a Julep Maven! Your first box will be an intro box but you can get access to the last two Maven boxes for $20. I believe if you use the code COLOR2012 you can get your first box (intro) for only a PENNY!!! Click here to join.

What do you think about crackle? Is it in or out? I personally have always liked this trend, even when I was a little girl. It adds a unique twist to a manicure, and no two nails look alike.

New nail polish monthly box???

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

So, by the looks of it there may be another nail polish monthly box floating around in the near future. I found out about this through a FB group, and I am kind of intrigued. It says only high-end and top brands. I don't know what to expect, honestly. All that is available now is a sign up box that you see in the picture. No price, no date, no brands, nothing really.

Here is my "unique url" (aka affiliate link of some sort): http://signup.lacquerous.com/?lrRef=jFbOkNo idea what happens when I do get someone to sign up, they don't say what will happen, just numbers and such. It's so vague!!!

What do you think? Do you think you would try out a nail polish subscription box? I want to hear the price. I'm kind of scared at what it could be!

Favorite manicure of the moment

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

I love the gradient look, I hope it never goes out of style. Lately I've been wearing Butter London Rosie Lee on top of Julep Pippa. I had to put so many coats of top coat it's crazy! I am not a fan of a grainy finish.

A few posts ago I mentioned that I was going to do a nail polish video once my Coterie order came in. It's here, but I am going to wait until Julep gets here. If I was only getting two polish, I wouldn't have worried about it, but I'm getting four. Some will get the boot from my drawer, and the inside will change because I'm always changing how Julep is stored. It's just a mess in there.

Have you tried a gradient manicure? What colors did you loose? I'm always trying to figure out more combinations.

Maria and Fairy Lights Comparison

Julep Maria and Butter London Fairy Lights

As you can see, the two colors are basically the same. Buy basically I mean they're exactly the same. So, yeah. Quite blunt. It's kind of disappointing, the Butter London website let me down. I honestly thought that it was going to be soooo much more purpley in color.

Ulta Butter London BOGO Haul

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

I originally said that I wasn't going to participate in last weeks BOGO, but you give a mouse a cookie, they're going to eat the cookie! There was also a code for free shipping on orders $25 and more, so since shipping was going to be about $5 anyways, I figured I could spend the extra $5 and get free shipping!

First are the nail polishes. For Butter London I got Rosie Lee, which is a beautiful brick red, boarder line copper shimmer with a clear polish. It's not pale pink like the website says, not sure how they got that description. Next is Fairy Lights which looks NOTHING like it does on the BL site. I thought Ulta had the color wrong, but no no, they are correct. It is the exact same as Julep Maria, and I will put up a proper swatch some time this week if I have time. Kind of annoyed that I bought a dupe.

I have been wanting Essence for a while now, and since they are $1.99, I figured why not! I bought Black is Black since the only black that I have is a tiny Sally Girl polish. Sweet as Candy is a sheer pink, and it looks perfect for a french manicure. I've only swatched them quickly on nail wheels, so I'll have to do a proper swatch one of these days. Black is Black looks like it'll take 2 coats to be opaque, and Sweet as Candy looks like it'll take forever.

Oh boy, probably my favorite item is the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I have been wanting this for ages, but I never actually took the plunge to buy it when I saw it in stores. So glad I ordered it!!! The last thing I bought was the Almay eye make up remover because I needed something that was a dollar, and that seemed like a good choice. Travel size!!

Then I choose 3 samples, and I basically picked the three that were not fragrance samples. The first one pictured, is the Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser that I figured I could stick in an over night bag. The second one, to be honest, I have no idea what it is. It's some sort of skin care, but I couldn't be bothered to read the paper. The last one is the Laura Geller Spackle primer. I am scared about this. That word "bronze", I am the opposite of bronze. I doubt this will work for me.

Think I'm done with Butter London? Think again I have 4 more on their way from Coterie, if they will ever get off their butts and ship the order I placed on the 13th. I'm getting Knackered, All Hail the Queen, Bluey, and a matte top coat. All for only $11!!!! How could I resist? I plan on doing a nail polish collection video when they get here, whenever that will be.

I wanted to mention that I am sick AGAIN, so don't expect too much blogging from me. I spent most of the morning sleeping, and I have developed a cough this time. Grrr, no idea how I keep getting sick.

Hope you all are well, and I will see you again [hopefully] soon!

P.S. Let me know what you think about these hauls. I'm really iffy on them, but I mainly post them when I have something to say about the items in the haul. What posts do you like to see? I'm trying to gather ideas of what to post, and I want to make sure it's something you are interested in.

Picks for fall

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Fall in Florida is just an extension of summer. It doesn't get cold, no changing leaves, it is just as hot and humid as it was in the summer. That doesn't stop me from wearing fall shades!

OPI Brisbade Bronze
Essie Size Matters
China Glaze Avalanche
Julep Pippa
Sephora by OPI Call Your Mother

When I thought about what colors I wanted to do for this post, two immediately came to mind: Size Matters and Pippa. I am loving darker reds, and nudes at the moment, and these two are so perfect! I had a hard time choosing between Essie Chichilly, Angora Cardi, and the SOPI polish, but SOPI won in the end! Brisbane Bronze is a favorite, I wear it with ever season, is anyone surprised? I always neglect Avalanche. It is a beautiful color.

Hopefully I'll post regularly this week. I feel another cold coming on. Will this ever end?

Sunday Summary

Sunday, September 16, 2012

This week I
- Was sick for the majority of it
- Got nothing productive done, whatsoever
- Restarted my Sims 3 Medieval game
- Went to Emerson Preserve even though I was sick. Really nice day out, the breeze was soooo refreshing
- Opened a store on Storenvy called Polish Adore. Right now there are only a few blog elements, but I intend on adding pillows something within the next few weeks. I got bored while I was sick
- Am procrastinating creating a new blog post even though I know what I want to do
- Bought way too much Butter London online. Oops

How was your week? Mine was weird. Like really really weird.

Swatch-A-Thon! | Avon eyeshadow pallets.

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Long time so see! Sorry about that, I was sick, and had no desire to blog at all. I come to you today with some Avon eye shadow swatches. These are not mine, they are my moms so I can't do a review on them for you all. I tried to get the swatch itself true to color, and I believe all of them are. The picture of the product may not be 100%, but it's as close as I could get it without having to go outside, if that would even help.

Sunday Summary

Sunday, September 9, 2012

Is that term overused? I know a lot of bloggers use "someday summary", but in my lame attempt to not copy I changed it to Sunday Summary. Yeah, I strive big in my endeavours. I felt like blogging in a more personal way today. I do this a lot, don't I? I find it very therapeutic, and it's a good way to get a few things off my mind.

A little bit on topic, tomorrow Butter London will be buy one get one free at your local Ulta. I was originally planning on running over there and picking up a couple, but using Black Knight always discourages me from purchasing any more. I put it on, and not even 2 hours later it was chipping. I think I will save my $14 for a few Essie colors that I've been eyeing. Plus, a girl can get into trouble at Ulta! When you consider that mine is right next to a Super Target, whoo, it might be best to stay away.

This song, right here by Taylor Swift. I love it! It's so catchy, and I love that she's going in a different direction. I feel like she was putting herself into a rut with the exact same sound on 90% of her songs. I love that she's branching out, and expanding her sound to something new. I was putting together a Beach Party manicure whilst listening to this. It made me so happy =). This color is one of my favorites,  by far. I am also loving Flyleaf's new single, New Horizons.

Finally, after the longest time we've gone a few weeks without rain! Now that Isaac is old news, we've been free for a while. But there's this little thing people are calling the "Ghost of Isaac" that has been brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, but I haven't heard anything for a while, so I'm not worried about it. I say that now, and it started raining =P

Still with me? I have been lusting over this wallet for so long! It's a Kate Spade, one of the Pond Stacey's, or Tudor Stacy's. It's everything that I want, so simple, and durable that I will [hopefully] have it forever! I hope the quality is as good as I'm expecting. It's not cheap, which is why I plan on going to the local outlet store to get it. Save some bucks, but I'm so bummed that I missed out on the Labor Day sale! 50% off, WHAT??? I must remember this for next year. I'll show you guys the wallet when I get it. I couldn't find a blogger review online or on the purse forum.

I need to make my summaries shorter...
