Influenster Beauty VoxBox

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Have you guys ever heard of Influenster? Well, it's a community of people, just like you (maybe more than you think) who take time to share their experience with products, brands, and thing that they love.
"Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up)."
They have several different categories including; Eco, Gamer, Urbanite, Pop Culture, Beauty, Catnip, Blushing Bride, and even one for mothers. That's only a few. There's usually something there for everyone.

But what to do with these badges? With the badges you can get discounts, sales, and even a VoxBox or two! That's what's pictured above, a VoxBox. Now, the boxes are completely free, and are themed. When you qualify for one (usually means you have a badge already), you fill out a survey, and wait. They send you an e-mail if you qualify. The point of these boxes is to try the products out, and fill out surveys about them! Super simple.

This is my first box, and I must say that I am incredibly pleased with it. Only one item I cans see myself not using, and that is the lashes. But, I will still try them out.

Below, is what I received!

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin ($7.29)
It helps with updos. I'm extremely excited about this.

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit ($5.99)
Comes with eyelashes (duh), adhesive, and applicator. Claims a 24-hour hold (no way I would wear them that long) with the latex-free glue.

Bath & Body Works Mini Candle ($3.50)
Pumpkin Cupcake. Also came with a coupon for a $10.00 3-wick candle.

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact ($4.99)
Comes with four colors, a primer, and an illuminator.

Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream ($6.00 for a full sized 4oz bottle)
"..fights out of control hair and reduces styling time.."

So, what do you think of Influenster? It's great for bloggers of all kinds. Wonderful way to dip your toes into reviewing for companies, and a great way to learn about new products! No, I am not being paid or compensated for talking about, if you were wondering. =D

'Snap To It' - Mark Eyeshadow

Saturday, October 20, 2012

L to R:  Ice Age, Biscotti, Fairy Dust, Barista

I don't know if any of you have tried these, but these little eyeshadow squares have been on my mind for over a year now.

After I originally bought the eyeshadows, it took about a month (well, more than a month) to get the pallet. It is completely different the one pictured directly above, and on the website. I think the reason they've been on back order for that long is because they redesigned it, for whatever reason. I don't like how small the mirror is, it seems kind of pointless. I will say that it's nice to have something customizable, and I can switch out the colors if I want. I'm thinking about ordering a blush, and buying the mini.

It's difficult to swap out a square when it's full, I use a needle to pop one side out, and the others come out easily.

New collection and storage - Video!!

Friday, October 19, 2012

I added this little think to the bottom of the drawers to keep the bottles from sliding.

Klout (for the Klout perk - Essie Skirting the Issue)

So, there it is. My storage and collection. I wont be changing it up anytime soon, aside from maybe adding more. I highly doubt I'll grow out of this within the next year or so, so this is it! I hope you all enjoyed it, or at least found it some what interesting.

China Glaze Foie Gras

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I can't believe I never swatched any of the Hunger Games colors yet. Anywho, this one is beautiful. I love neutrals, they compliment any skin tone.

Free downloadable quotes? Yes!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I created these little quote printables for myself a few days ago. I really wanted something for my bookshelf now that I went through and cleaned it out. I saw this idea on another site, and decided to create my own! I didn't think it would be this easy, to be honest. I didn't like the idea of a whole colored background, so I printed out the white one for myself. Below are full page printables of the white and colored background/boarder versions. I added the guidelines to make it easier to cut out. I did this after I cut my own out, and it was pretty interesting trying to figure out the placement.

The frames are from Michaels, and I got a 40% off coupon with my receipt, so I will be putting off the nail polish collection video because I am going to buy the infamous "Melmer". I'm excited, but mainly to be able to put all of my polish in one area and not have the overflow scattered around the house. Expect the video next week!

Mark Light Show Illuminating Face Powder

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Is it just me, or does this remind you of MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish? I don't have that one, so I can't compare them at all. I think Mark was trying to create a dupe for that powder. It definitely looks like it right out of the box.

It's definitely illuminating. There is a lot of shimmer in this powder. When you put it on your face, you will shine because there is glitter on your face. I'm iffy on this. While the product is nice to look at, I don't know how I feel about little bits of shimmer on my face.

Have you tried MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish? Does it have little bits of glitter in it? How do you feel about putting glitter on your face? Too much shiny for me.

I will probably not use this unless I want to look like Tinkerbell for the day.

Mark Star Status Eyeshadow - Earth Angel

Monday, October 8, 2012

L to R: Silver, Bronze, Gold
The Mark Star Status eyeshadow in Earth Angel is a trio with shades of gold, bronze, and silver. They have a shimmery finish. It comes with a duo ended brush; one side is fluffy, the other is flat and thin. This is not a review, I haven't had much of a change to actually wear these. No idea how the longevity of the shadow is, only the opaqueness and how the brush works.

Thoughts
Talk about opaque! Wow, I was not expecting these to be this pigmented. I will say that they transfer pretty well, as in once they are on your fingers they just get everywhere. Obviously you would be using a brush. The image directly above is using the brush that comes with the trio. The fluffy end is a bit meh. I'm not impressed, not that I was expecting anything amazing.  The liner side makes a really fine/thin line, perfect for lining the eyes. I swatched each of the colors using the liner end as well.

Non-crackle dupe for Julep Sabrina

Saturday, October 6, 2012

I was shuffling around the interwebs looking for a dupe for Sabrina, when I tell my husband that I want a non-crackle version of this color. He then precedes to open my nail polish drawer, and pull our China Glaze Riveting. What is a nail blogger to do? Swatch it of course! In the picture above, I have Julep Sabrina on top of CG Riveting. To the right of that is Riveting. To the right of Riveting, is Sabrina on top of Eloise which I posted about a few days ago.

How close are they? Well, the color is nearly identical. The finish is what is different. Aside from the obvious lack of crackle, Riveting has a shimmery finish to it, while Sabrina is a frost. They both have a gold/yellow sheen to it creating a semi-duochrome effect. They're different, but close enough to satisfy my cravings.

Do you know of another dupe for Sabrina, sans crackle? One that may be a closer match to Riveting?

Favorites of September!!

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Woo! I actually have a couple of favorites this month. It hardly happens, normally it's empties, or rediscoveries. I feel like this month went by so slowly.

First off: Kate Spade purse
I have been looking for a structured purse for a while now. This one is beautiful. It's a tote style without any type of closure; it's main downfall. I can review it, and go into detail if you wish, I have just been LOVING this bad boy. It is the Wellesley Elena in Porcelain. I bought mine at an outlet for half off (steal!). My favorite details on this bag are the pink and red polka dot lining, and the rivets with spades indented in them.

Essie Size Matters
A toe staple this month! I have yet to switch to something else.

Mark Help Wanted
My favorite face wash of all time. It's an exfoliating cleanser that lathers up real nice. It works wonders on my skin, and it's always a pleasure when I revert back to using it.

Mark Self Sanctuary
I love this body wash so much. The smell is something that needs to be smelled, rather than described, and it's the only wash that the scent actually stays on my skin afterwards. I use this when I need a real pick-me-up, and it is just a luxurious experience.

Nail polish remover jar
This one is a generic one. I love how easy it is to remove the polish without having a multitude of cotton balls lying around. I do not use this for glitter, though. Too messy!

Kate Spade wallet
It is the Grant Park Stacey in Eggplant. Love this little wallet. It's a simply bifold, with plenty of slots for my cards, and 4 pockets for easy access with a zipper on the back. I recommend trying the sipper first, I had issues with the one I bought so I brought it back, and 2 others in the store were having issues. Yikes! Not good when you're paying $100 for a wallet (mine was half off [$40-someting], they were having a good sale).

Suave Professionals hairspray
I love this line. I also have the dry shampoo, and they both smell amazing! They go well together if I happen to use them both. This is the only thing that will prevent the baby hairs from sticking up. It wont tame them if they're already up, but they help prevent them from sticking out like I rubbed a balloon on my head. Drives me insane.

Solid Shampoo - Basin
I am loving solid shampoo in general. Right now I'm using a lemony one from Basin. I need to pick up more.. I end up only using this every other day, and it makes my hair look so alive, and smooth.

Guerlain Meteorites
I love these little balls. I want to buy another one (so expensive!), since this one is probably about 4+ years old. There still is a lot left, too! It sets my makeup, and it has a really nice scent to it. If you can smell these bad boys, do it. It's really pleasant and not over powering in the slighest.

I also have a manicure of the month, which is this one: Clicky!

What are some of your favorites? Have you had any rediscovered favorites?
