Comparison Zoya Gie Gie and OPI Pedal Faster Suzi

I was rummaging through my nail polish the other day, trying to decide what color to wear, and as usual I notice that I have a couple of colors that are close to each other. It shouldn't be a surprise to find a dupe within my collection, or colors close to each other. If I liked it once, I'm bound to like it again.

One of these I knew were close to each other when I bought them. I did a comparison of OPI Pedal Faster Suzi and Essie Pink-A-Boo a while back, and they're really not that close even though they look it in the bottle.

The two obvious ones are Zoya and OPI. They are nearly identical except OPI is a bit darker, but not by much. They both have a similar shimmer to their color, which is the same color. Both have great formulas, and apply beautifully. The other two are off playing in the left field. They're not even close.

Essie Madison Ave-Hue | Swatch

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

In yesterdays post I expressed concern for the fine glitter. Basically I was worried that it would be like Bikini So Teeny, and the glitter wouldn't show up. As you can plainly see by the swatches below, that is not the case. The glitter isn't obvious, but it is there.

I also want to mention the brush. Has anyone else experienced a wonky brush? There was this one hair that I wanted to pluck off. It's not impossible to work around, but it isn't straight.

Madison Ave-Hue is part of the Essie 2013 Spring Collection.

Zoya Angel | Swatch

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

I love this color! I got this with the Zoya promotion a week or so ago, and this and Amber were the two that I was uber excited for. It has a metallic finish, and is such a pretty color when applied to the nails. I actually give it a 4.5 on the scale of opaqueness. It doesn't need that second coat, but it does enhance the color when applied. If you need a recommendation for a Zoya color, I definitely suggest this one. Pictures don't do it justice.

Zoya Angel | The online color isn't accurate to it's shade in real life. Either that or I'm colorblind, or my shade is slightly different. Not entirely impossible.

What's your favorite Zoya shade?

Julep Kylie - Magnet

Saturday, August 11, 2012

Magnet directional arrows? I really have no idea what to call that, and I realize it's kind of misleading if you don't know the context of it. Those are the directions that I pointed the magnet, if you are confused.

Anywho I tried Kylie the other day and decided to play around with my nail wheels again. For some odd reason I was able to get the magnet to work on there, and not one my actual nails. Highly annoying, no idea what I was doing wrong. If you want a swatch without the magnet being used, just let me know and I will get right on that. It's actually a pretty color on its own.

Have you tried a magnetic nail polish? What do you think of the trend? Personally, I think it's silly. Looks cool, though, I have to admit.

Essie Your Hut or Mine

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Please excuse my gross cuticles/skin in the last picture. I have been neglecting them. Such a bad nail blogger! I'll try to keep up with them more.

Anywho, this is a lovely color! It reminds me of OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, does anyone know of a comparison? It has a gold, pink, and purple shimmer to it, and is really easy to remove. I got it, or my friend got it for me, at TJ Maxx. $3.99, not a bad price!

Pink Comparison - Essie and OPI

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Essie Pink-A-Boo is a light pink filled with micro glitter in shades of purple and pink. It is sheer, and requires about 3 to 4 coats to become completely opaque. OPI Pedal Faster Suzi is a deeper shade of pink filled with white micro glitter. This one only required 2 to 3 coats for complete opacity.

Essie Pink-A-Boo

Saturday, July 21, 2012

I love this polish and am frustrated by it at the same time. There are 3 to 4 coats of polish on the nails, and unless you have all day to wait for the layers of base coat, 3-4 coats of color, and top coat to dry, it's not eve worth starting. Regardless, it is a beautiful color, and one of my favorites.

Essie Cascade Cool

Thursday, July 12, 2012

I saw this shade at Target over the weekend. I love the shade! What's better? It was on sale for $5. You know me, I couldn't resist!

I've been on a pink kick this month. I have no idea why, but I'm loving pinks and sheers. Look out, lots of pinks coming your way =)

China Glaze Poetic

Saturday, June 30, 2012

This color is a mystery to many in the nail world. It's copper, but pink at the same time. So weird. I also did a comparison with this and Maria a while back, which I also mentioned in the re-swatch of that color a few days ago. Out of the two, this one is my favorite.

This is the last swatch for Project Re-Swatch. Yaaay!!!! That was a successful journey, and I'm proud of myself for fighting through the dreaded "off color" phase I was going through. Hope all is well for everyone, and I hope your June was fantastic! See you guys in July =) I have a lot of posts lined up, and waiting to be published. So excited for July!

OPI Dulce De Leche

Friday, June 29, 2012

I love this dusty pinkish brown color. It almost boarders on the neutral side. I placed in both categories, just to be safe. I really like this color. It's one of those colors that goes with everything, so when I can't decide which color to wear, this is one that I can grab. Almost like a fail safe shade.

Essie Raise Awareness

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

This color was a 2011 Breast Cancer exclusive, and is a lovely milky pink. There are many colors like it, I did a few swatch comparison of it and a few other colors like it here and here. Mainly French Affair, which I think is still available. Either way, this shade is not uncommon, and they'll probably dupe it later this year whent hey roll out their Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

Essie Cute As A Button

Sunday, June 24, 2012

This color was so annoying to swatch. I was literally dreading swatching this color. It did not want to show up right on camera both times I tried to swatch it. As usual with this type of color. I originally had a video swatch, but I realized that it's not as accurate as the pictures.
