Empties #4

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

I know what you're thinking: "you've been silent for four months and you only managed to finish off five products?" Well, no. There are several more, but these are the ones worth mentioning. Trust me, my opinion on my shampoo (boring Herbal Essence) isn't interesting at all. Or toothpaste. I mean, if you want a review on those boring bits I'm happy to oblige, but I figured you'd want an update, since most of these have a blog post dedicated to it.

Let's see, there are two PR samples present (no FTC, I haven't forgotten about your rules. I may be a forgetful blogger, but I am a compliant one): Burt's Bees Cream Cleanser and The Body Shop Body Scrub. The rest was purchased by me. Onto the reviews!

CO Bigelow Mentha Body wash: I used to be addicted to this stuff. The way it left the whole house smelling like peppermint, and my skin tingling and cold. Seriously, do not use this stuff in the winter. You will regret it the moment you step out of the bathroom. It took me a while to finish this bottle off (maybe two years?), but not for lack of trying. I swap body washes out here and there, so this stuff kind of kept getting put on the back burner.

Will I repurchase? One of these days. It's a staple product that I love.
$12.00 through Bath & Body Works

Mark Help Wanted: Probably the saddest product on here. I loved it. Loved the smell, loved the results, pretty much everything about it. Sadly, it's been discontinued.

Will I repurchase? Can't =( So sad

The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub: I blogged about this product a while back, and I'm happy to report that my opinion has not changed. Soft skin, great scent, what's not to love? It's fantastic, and I highly recommend it.

Will I repurchase? I already have =) along with the body butter.
Retails for $20 at the Body Shop's website and in stores.

Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser: I'm going to sound like a Mary Kay spokesperson for a minute, but ever since I started the Clear Proof system I haven't have much problems with dry skin or excess oil. On those off days this cleanser is great, but I don't like using multiple cleansers at one time. It's great for those once in a while uses when my skin is feeling a bit dry, and it really does work. For me, the lotion works just as well, especially if applied at night before I go to bed.

Will I repurchase? Maybe, but probably not.
Retails for $18 at Target.

Julep Instant Warming Foot Scrub: This little bugger was a pain to use up. I had to push really hard for the product to some out, and eventually I gave up. It's not 100% finished, but I'm done with it. Like I said in my review it's a normal scrub, and its gimmick is the warming sensation. That's the only thing that separates this product from the rest.

Will I repurchase? No. It's been discontinued, and even if it wasn't I still would but it again.
I don't see it on the website anymore, but I do remember that it was fairly expensive for the amount.

Empties #3

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

For some reason all of my products like to run out at the same time. Two foundations, 4 concealers (one not shown. It's gone MIA), and a few things that aren't pictured such as two bottles of shampoo and a bottle of conditioner. One of those months, I suppose. I actually have a few products that are nearing their last leg, so expect another one empties post before summer hits.

I finally managed to use up my Origins Checks and Balances. I loved it from the moment it was used up, and I'm sad to see it go. I do plan on repurchasing it in the future, but right now I think I want to explore Origin's range to see what else they have to offer.

This is my second bottle of the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. It gives off a lighter coverage, and doesn't do much for the redness in my skin which is actually what I'm focusing on. I think I'm finally going to move on from this product. Fun fact: it was the first foundation I ever tried. The other foundation, Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse, is fantastic. I actually fell in love with it when I pulled it out of my drawer where it had been sitting for several months. It masks some redness, and gives a beautiful finish when I use it with a sponge. I was quite sad to see it go. I definitely plan on repurchasing this again.

I was less than impressed by the Avon Brightening Concealer. Sometimes with these types of products I think they need to take the word "concealer" out since it really doesn't do much concealing. The sponge on the Maybelline Age Rewind didn't concern me when I bought it as much as it does now. It gave decent coverage, but the shade became too dark for me as winter crept in. I'm on the look out for something better. What disappointed me the most about the Loreal True Match concealer is how quickly I ran through it. It worked well, a bit drying, but overall I liked it. I just felt I didn't get my money's worth when all was said and done.

I didn't finish the Mark Lash All You Want, but it just doesn't smell right, so into the trash it goes.

For some reason the Sally Hansen Vita Surge just didn't do it for me. It seems like one of those gimmicky products. I'm interested to see if anyone has actually noticed a difference with it.

Do you run out of the same products at the same time?

Empties

Empties

Almost a year later I have another empties post. Significantly less stuff this time, but don't you worry. There are at least 5 different products that are all on their last leg. I don't go through my products as often as some, but I did notice that I hold onto a product when it's almost empty. Separation anxiety, maybe? Who knows.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

This is another one of those cleansers that worked for a bit, and then did nothing for my skin. Obviously I wont be repurchasing.

Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream

Love this stuff. I already have another tub of it. My skin is soft, and not oily after applying it. A little goes a long way, so it lasts a long time. It's been a staple in my skincare routine for a while now, and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Unless Target decides to stop carrying it, which wouldn't surprise me. Target likes to switch it up, and it drives me crazy. I already repurchased it =)

Julep Quick Dry Drops

I did a complete review of these drops last year, and my opinion pretty much stayed the same as it did when I wrote the review. I canceled my Julep subscription earlier this month, and I don't get the Maven price anymore. It's too expensive for my taste, and I wont be repurchasing. It's as good as some other quick dries that I've tried. Nothing worth the hassle of dealing with Julep.

Suave Touchable Finish hairspray

I don't talk about hair very often, which is weird since it's such a big part of my life. I mean, I have a lot of hair. This hairspray holds my hair in place without it being too stiff. It's a lightweight hold, just like the bottle says. No complaints, I will be buying more because I love it, and because I am out of hairspray.

Mark Self Sanctuary Peony Apple shower wash

I just don't even want to talk about this. I love the smell, love this shower wash, but I can't buy it again. So sad. Mark, why did you discontinue it?

Mark Help Wanted anti-acne cleanser

Another product that was discontinued by Mark, but that's ok because it does nothing for my skin anymore. I guess that little fact makes it easier to cope with Mark's obsession with making me sad.

Avon Naturals Body Wash

I have a reserve of body washes that I keep around when I run out of body wash, and haven't bought anything new. My mom gave it to me, and it smelled ok. The scent is glazed apple and walnut. Just a meh review of a meh product. Nothing special.

Another empties post done, with one in the making. Have you tried any of these products before? If so, what did you think?

Empties!!! July - August

Friday, August 31, 2012

This is my first ever empties post! I got to the point where I was flat out hoarding items because I didn't want to finish them. Some were because I knew I couldn't get them anymore, others were because I didn't like it. Hoarding does no good, so it was time to use it all up!
No, I didn't do a video =(. So sad.
 Photobucket
Aromatherapy Bath & Body Works Sleep Lotion
I am someone who wants aromatherapy to work so bad, but thinks it may be more of a placebo effect than anything else. At the end of the day, if it makes me sleepy I'm with that =). I've actually been holding onto this bottle for several years and finally finished it one day.

Almay Hypoallergenic deodorant
Not going to lie, I bought this because I didn't know Almay made deodorant, and I wanted to try it. It's ok, I guess. Did the job, but I'm not a fan of gel under my arms. Feels wet and just ew.

Organix Moroccan Oil Shampoo
When I first started using it, I LOVED it. As time went on, I noticed that it was doing nothing for my hair, and was just using it up for the sack of finishing it. It's ok, I guess, but nothing special.

Boots Cleansing Milk
This is actually what made me start doing this. It was sitting around, not being used it because I knew Target stopped carrying it. The scent is lavender, and it's just so lovely to use.
Sadly,
Covergirl Clean Oil Control
Ok, this foundation would be great if it wasn't for the horrible bottle! Seriously, I had to leave it upside down for any chance of getting any out even when it was full.

Mark Matte Chance
I did a full review on this, and my opinions have not changed - click

Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Foaming Cleanser
That's a mouth full. I like this product. It doesn't feel too harsh, and it does the job. At the moment I had to stop using it because I am on my second bottle, and that means it's time to switch it up!

Aromatherapy Bath & Body Works Stress ReliefLotion
I like the way it smells. It's borderline masculine smelling, which is kind of weird, but oh well.
EOS Shaving Cream
I feel like the whole EOS line is over hyped. It's a normal shaving cream, not worth the price tag. Packaging is cute though, and it does smell nice.
Aussie Cleanse and Mend Shampoo
What is wrong with Aussie???? They cut this out of their line! Ugh. It was the only regular shampoo that I found that was for oily hair. It worked WONDERS. I have these stupid hairs that stick up when my hair gets oily, and this tamed it for at least 24 hours. Now I'm lucky to get 6 hours of tamed hair. It was the only thing that worked =( Gel, mouse, hair spray, nothing can hold them down. This was another product that I was hoarding. Can you blame me?
Sadly =(,

Lots of products that I'm not repurchasing, some because I can't, others because I don't like them. I can't wait to get more aromatherapy stuff. I've been having trouble sleeping lately, and I am ready to dive into that placebo effect!! I don't care if it's all in my head, if I fall asleep at the end of the night that's fine with me!

What have you finished this month? Will you repurchase it?
